Major League Soccer has announced they have terminated the contract of CF Montréal’s Matko Milijevic after discovering that the young midfielder had “engaged in conduct detrimental to the league and violated his Standard Player Agreement”.

ToggleMilijevic was caught playing in an amateur tournament in Quebec using a false name. According to MLS’s code of conduct policy, a contracted player participating in a league other than MLS is a violation of any standard contract with any club.
The league’s decision came after an investigation into reports that the 22-year-old Miami-born player had been banned for life from the amateur league for punching another player in the face.

Shortly after they learned of what had transpired, Montréal acted, with coach Hernán Losada confirming that the player had been asked to stay away from the club while MLS was carrying out its investigation.
