Cruz Azul are scouring the market as they look to replace the long-term injured ‘Toro’ Fernández, who will be out of action for at least six months and La Máquina are looking to replace the Uruguayan with none other than Carlos Vela. The board of directors asked for the 34-year-old player, although they recognize that signing him is complicated.
Both Vela and Cruz Azul became trending topics earlier in Mexico when José Luis Verduzco, Vela’s agent, Jorge Sánchez published an image of the club’s training ground La Noria. As a result, Celeste fans began to speculate about the possible signing of the former LAFC player.

According to ESPN, Cruz Azul realise that it will be difficult to bring the striker back to Liga MX although the club doesn’t deny their interest in free-agent Vela’s services.
Vela is currently without a team after not renewing his contract with LAFC and La Máquina have previously expressed their interest in trying to secure the former Mexico international’s signature but on the previous occasion were rebuffed from the striker.
